The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit, Science- and Technology-oriented Educational and Research Institution, based in Cyprus and governed by an acclaimed Board of Directors. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its five Research Centres, namely:

  1. The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC)
  2. The Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC)
  3. The Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC)
  4. The Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C) 
  5. The Science and Technology Driven Policy and Innovation Research Centre (STeDI-RC)

 

Considerable cross-centre interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s scientific ethos.

The Cyprus Institute invites applications for highly qualified and motivated Researcher to join the Institute’s CARE-C Centre of Excellence, Environmental Technology Department (ETD) on a full-time basis (100% FTE) for its premises at Athalassa’s Campus.

The successful candidate will become a member of the Instrumentation and Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) of CARE-C and take responsibilities in ongoing projects aiming to develop experimental methods for observing the behaviour of aerosol nanoparticles. 

The Researchers will be working under the framework of the Anchor and Sunrise projects implementation. 

 

Position Specific Responsibilities/activities:

  • Carry out experimental work to understand how particles are produced and behave in the gas phase,
  • Analyze results from the experiments,
  • Disseminate the results through conference presentations and journal publications.

Specific Requirements

Position Specific Required Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in physics, chemistry and/or engineering, with focus on aerosol science and technology and catalysis
  • Know-how on the operation of basic aerosol instruments
  • Know-how on nanomaterials characterization for catalytic applications
  • Good analytical skills and knowledge of programming languages (python, matlab, etc.)
  • Proven scientific writing skills (journal publications)

Position Specific Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with nanomaterial characterization tools
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both verbal and writing
  • Research experience in catalysis and aerosol science and technology

Benefits

Duration of appointment: 

The initial period of the appointment will be for a duration of 12 months with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds. 

 

Remuneration details:

Salary Band: CYI4(1-9)

Position’s Starting Salary: CYI4.1 - €37641.89, CYI4.2 - €39457.60, CYI4.3 - €41273.31, CYI4.4 - €43089.02
